Changes by Irene Margolis

“Take the moment and transform it to a better situation or thing” -Deepak Chopra In this life, the past can hold tremendous power over our minds. This is more or less due to the unfortunate oversight of our inner power. Most don’t realize that our past thoughts have created the circumstances we are now faced with in our current reality. When you focus on negative events, the more those negative events seem to arise and manifest, creating dis-harmony, dis-ease, and dis-comfort in our every day lives. This is due to the Karmic pattern we chose for ourselves. We can begin to shift this karmic debt by changing how we think…now. Once you shift your thoughts into alignment with what you are actually wanting in your life, then you will begin to see the universe put you into instances where opportunity’s flourish and ideas are created. But..you have to recognize these opportunities and ideas when they are presented to you, and act on them. Second guessing, doubt, fear of the unknown…..these are all things that do not serve you in the shifting of your karmic pattern…so release them. Allow yourself to blossom into the beautiful creator you naturally are within, by recognizing the seed of opportunity when it is presented to you. This will thus create, “Thoughts into Things,” and the shift in your karmic pattern. Life can be lived easily and effortlessly, when you commit to practicing things like acceptance and understanding that everything is here for its own reason, and everyone is on their own path. You become at ease within and gain peace of mind in its basic natural form, which makes life seem not so strenuous. There is no such thing as, “bad”…only life lessons. People tend to confuse the two because their inner being feels uneasy at the moment that, “bad” instance is created. The uneasiness that is felt is only another learning experience..another life lesson to make us great inside. And how could learning…..ever be “bad?”
So…in the end does the change simply come from the instances you encounter? Or are you creating those instances making the real change…come from within you.

Knowing the Power Within

Knowing the Power Within

by Irene Margolis

In our modern culture, we have become a technology-oriented society where people have become accustomed to communicating by texting, e-mail, and Facebook, and relying on Google to find the answers. On a deeper level, when you go beyond cyberspace, people really have the desire for a more human connection with others. This is why there are so many varieties of online dating services—Match.com, Christian Singles Meet, Senior Singles Meet, etc.—all with the goal of helping people create relationships with other like-minded people, and people within their community. But in search for that perfect companion, I believe many people have overlooked a very important aspect of being, which is their own personal power, or as Deepak Chopra mentions in the Law of Pure Potentiality in his book, “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success,” “Your power is that of bonding…a bonding that comes from true love…”

What is it that makes us feel empowered? Self power—the love and awareness that you can create your physical world and connect with everyone in it. Creating reality comes from knowing you have the power to do so. The power within you has the ability to attract to you, situations, opportunities, people, and circumstances on a daily basis—forever. When you fully understand that power, you learn to control it and shift your attention into a progressive direction that will help you bask in all life has to offer. You are the most powerful creator in the world.

Your thoughts can literally shape your future, and this is why it is good to be aware of that fact, because if you are thinking, “I don’t want to do that,” then you are literally attracting “that” in which you don’t want because you are giving power to it. Why focus on that which does not serve you, when you can be playing in the field of creative infinite consciousness, building your internal power? Would you not then begin to realize how incredible you truly are and how silly it was to think anything less than that? Life is a playground, and we are all here playing in the same realms of existence together. Knowing our power within allows for the funnest games, for real power is love of all that is.

Irene Margolis is a certified Chopra Center Primordial Sound Instructor and has been involved with Dr. Deepak Chopra and the Chopra Center for over 14 years. Several years ago, she created the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success Transformation Circle, a fun and informative workshop, which is presented on Sundays each month at the La Costa Resort and Spa. The Seven Spiritual Laws At-a-Glance (print this for your desk or refrigerator)

The Law of Pure Potentiality
Take time to be silent, to just BE. Meditate for 30 minutes twice a day. Silently witness the intelligence within every living thing. Practice non-judgment.
The Law of Giving Today, bring whoever you encounter a gift: a compliment or flower. Gratefully receive gifts. Keep wealth circulating by giving and receiving care, affection, appreciation and love.
The Law of Karma
Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind. Choosing actions that bring happiness and success to others ensures the flow of happiness and success to you.
The Law of Least Effort Accept people, situations, and events as they occur. Take responsibility for your situation and for all events seen as problems. Relinquish the need to defend your point of view.
The Law of Intention and Desire
Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment. Make a list of desires. Trust that when things don’t seem to go your way, there is a reason.
The Law of Detachment Allow yourself and others the freedom to be who they are. Do not force solutions—allow solutions to spontaneously emerge. Uncertainty is essential, and your path to freedom.
The Law of Dharma Seek your higher Self. Discover your unique talents. Ask yourself how you are best suited to serve humanity. Using your unique talents and serving others brings unlimited bliss and abundance.

Ayurvedic Consultant Training Program This Week!

Chopra Center University is dedicated to providing the highest quality training, continuing education, and research in the fields of Ayurveda, meditation, and yoga.

Chopra Center University trains students to become the practitioners, teachers, and lifestyle consultants of the 21st century – students dedicated to wholeness and the understanding of physical, emotional, and spiritual balance and their integration.

The Chopra Center–certified ayurvedic consultants will be trained to identify areas of disharmony between a client’s lifestyle behaviors, mind-body constitution, and their extended body (environment). Certified consultants will also be trained to understand how a client’s disharmony relates to the client's reported illness, reported diagnosis, or reported imbalance and will develop a program of care based on the teachings of the ACT program – to help re-establish harmony and support their clients on their journey to wholeness and optimal health.

The Chopra Center Ayurvedic Consultant Training Program is the only East-West curriculum offering an integrative approach that combines Ayurveda with modern medical science – embracing both conventional and holistic perspectives. The program’s curriculum is based on the mind-body healing approach developed by Deepak Chopra, M.D. and David Simon, M.D. A valuable component of the training is an intensive, interactive online program created by the Chopra Center in collaboration with Dr. David Frawley (Vamadeva Shastri), a renowned ayurvedic scholar, teacher, and founder of the American Institute of Vedic Studies. This comprehensive online program delves into a wealth of ayurvedic knowledge. In addition, the customized curriculum includes a week-long intensive at the Chopra Center, where students will attend daily classes and experience practical, hands-on training led by the founders of the ACT program.

Teacher Spotlight: Jeffrey Simons

Jeffrey's Path To Wellness:

I live on Bowen Island, the sweet spot of the universe and own and operate Seven Hills Yoga Studio. Yoga has become the centre point of my daily life and I discovered that sharing yoga is my dharma (life’s purpose).

I started a formal practice of yoga while at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. I had been suffering from chronic pain for almost two decades and was almost crippled with it. I went to the Mayo Clinic as a last resort. While attending their three week pain rehabilitation program they taught me how to breathe, meditate and do yoga. It was the essence of my recovery. At the end of my time there I was almost pain free and had a lightness in my being that I had not had in my adult life.

I have continued to practice and study since leaving the clinic.

Meditation and yoga are part of my daily life now and the staff at the Mayo clinic and my yoga teachers have all encouraged me to teach which seems to be my natural calling. The teachers path was a wonderful experience for me.

I am certified Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga Teacher and currently enrolled in the South Okanagan Yoga Academy (SOYA) 500 hours teacher training program. Also I continue to follow my own paths of study in the areas of mind body fitness and development.

I have been fortunate to study with Suzan Wood, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Simon, Claire E. Diab, Davidji, Chris Clancy and many others on this path.

Yoga has benefited my life in ways I would have never expected and I hope I can share these benefits with you.
